Zeki Müren Hotline
(2017/2021)Zeki Müren Hotline is a web experience that collects and curates people’s messages about Turkey’s beloved queer pop star, Zeki Müren. Through the use of a simple telephone hotline, anonymous callers participate in a collective meditation on and around Müren, often expressing nostalgia for the deceased icon and Turkey’s bygone days.
The desktop version of the web experience exhibited at IDFA DocLab, RIDM, !f Istanbul, and School of Visual Arts NYC. The public version is a mobile web app that launched on December 6, 2021—what would have been Zeki’s 90th birthday!
