About…
Jeff Soyk is an award-winning media artist with experience in storytelling, direction, UX design, UI design, front-end development, animation, and film/video.
His credits include co-director and UI & UX designer on Zeki Müren Hotline (2022 Webby Award Honoree: NetArt, 2017 !f Istanbul exhibit, 2017 RIDM exhibit, 2016 IDFA DocLab Nominee), co-creative director and UI & UX designer on PBS Frontline’s Inheritance (2016 News & Documentary Emmy Award, 2016 Peabody-Facebook Award), and art director, UI/UX designer and architect on Hollow (2014 News & Documentary Emmy Award Nominee, 2013 Peabody Award).
Soyk has a passion for socially-conscious storytelling and immersive experiences, leading him to forms that merge documentary content with interactive media (interactive documentary), as well as creative coding. He has a BFA in New Media Design from Rochester Institute of Technology (2005) and an MFA in Media Art from Emerson College (2013). He is currently an MIT Affiliate and part-time faculty at School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts (Boston), while freelancing as an interactive creative director, UX designer, UI designer, and front-end programmer. He is also an MIT Open Documentary Lab fellow alum.
